Media

Pinterest gives your agent social media and shopping tools for your account: create and update Pins and boards, read Pin and account analytics, manage product catalogs and feeds, and research trending keywords and topics.

  • Per-user credentials: each call uses the actual user's token, never a shared bot.
  • Encrypted per-tenant vault: AES-256, resolved at request time, never in LLM context.
  • Scoped before every call: pre-call scope check, 90-day SIEM-exportable audit chain.

pinterest_board_create
Create board
Create a new board on the authenticated Pinterest account, or on a Business Access ad account you manage. Returns the created board's full details: id, name, description, privacy setting, and creation metadata. Use this to make a new board before adding Pins or sections to it. Use pinterest_board_update to change an existing board instead.
Parameters
Name
Type
Required
Description
name
string
Required
Name of the board to create. Example: Summer recipes.
ad_account_id
string
Optional
Unique identifier of a Business Access ad account to use as the operating account for this creation, instead of the token user's own account. Only needed when using Pinterest Business Access to create a board owned by that ad account's user; the token user must hold an appropriate Business Access role on the ad account. Numeric string, up to 18 digits. Example: 549755885175.
description
string
Optional
Description of the board's purpose or content. Plain text, shown to board visitors. Example: My favorite summer recipes.

privacy
string
Optional
Privacy setting for the board. PUBLIC boards are visible to everyone; PROTECTED boards are visible only to people you approve; SECRET boards are visible only to you and collaborators. Defaults to PUBLIC. One of: `PUBLIC`, `PROTECTED`, `SECRET`. Default: `PUBLIC`.

SEE HOW AUTH WORKS
Each user signs in to Pinterest once, and Scalekit stores and refreshes their tokens. Credentials stay vaulted, every call is scope checked, and every action is logged.
1
Authorize
Your user connects
Pinterest
once. We tie it to their identity and the meetings they approved — no shared bot account, no org-wide access
Who:
user ‘A’
when:
Once per user
access:
Limited to user
2
Store
Their
Pinterest
token lives in a vault scoped to them. User A's meetings are never reachable by an agent acting for user B, even on the same connection
vault:
encrypted
scope:
per-user
tokens:
auto-refreshed
3
Resolve
When your agent calls a
Pinterest
tool, we fetch the right token server-side. It never touches your agent, never appears in the LLM context, never shows up in your logs
speed:
~40ms
check:
before every call
seen by:
nobody
4
Audit
Every
Pinterest
tool call is logged — who triggered it, which meeting was fetched, what came back. 90 days of history, tied to the user who authorized it
history:
90 days
export:
SIEM-ready
logged:
every call

Why Scalekit
Secure your agent's access. Connectors ship in minutes
01.
Shared tokens break per-user analytics
A shared Pinterest token looks fine in a demo. In production every Pin and catalog change looks like one service account, and you cannot tell which user triggered it. Scalekit resolves the credential of the actual user who triggered the agent, never a shared bot.
// shared token
audit → bot_service_account

// scalekit
audit → user_abc ✓
02.
Authentication is not authorization
03.
Multi-tenancy is architectural
04.
Pinterest today. Ten connectors tomorrow.
“Our agents act across Salesforce, Gong, Google Drive, and more, on behalf of every customer. Scalekit behind the scenes meant we can keep adding tools without ever rebuilding how credentials or tool calling work.”

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the agent access Pinterest as the user or through a shared service account?
As the user. Each user signs in to Pinterest once, and Scalekit stores and refreshes their tokens. Pins, boards, and catalog changes the agent makes are attributed to that user in your audit trail, not a shared service account.
Where is the Pinterest OAuth token stored?
In Scalekit's managed AES-256 token vault, namespaced per tenant. Refresh is automatic. Revocation is a single dashboard action. Credentials never appear in prompts, logs, or LLM context.
Can I limit what the agent does in Pinterest?
Yes. Filter by tool name in listScopedTools to expose only what you want, for example the analytics and trends tools without pinterest_pin_create or pinterest_catalog_items_batch_create, which can delete catalog items in bulk. Scalekit also enforces scope checks before every API call.
What happens when a user revokes Pinterest access?
The connection is invalidated on the next tool call. Subsequent requests for that user fail closed with a clear error. Other users in the tenant remain unaffected. The event is logged for audit.
Can the agent work on Business Account Pins and catalogs?
Yes, when the user has access. Pin, board, and catalog tools act on the authenticated account or on a Business Account the user can reach, and pinterest_user_account_businesses_list returns the business accounts linked to the connected user.
